Historic Eichelberger Theater In Pennsylvania Upgrades With 1 SOUND

Fitch Electronics outfits 700-seat venue in Hanover that's on the National Register of Historic Places with new system utilizing Contour CT212 loudspeakers as mains joined by SUB215 subwoofers and more.

The 700-seat Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, PA recently underwent a renovation that included the design and installation of a new sound reinforcement system incorporating a variety of 1 SOUND loudspeakers and subwoofers in a project by integration firm Fitch Electronics.

After hearing through word of mouth about a new system employing 1 SOUND loudspeakers at the Levoy Theater in New Jersey, a theater similar in size and touring performances, Fitch Electronics, which was already contracted for the project at Eichelberger, contacted the company for a demonstration. The loudspeakers fit both the sonic and aesthetic criteria and thus were the choice. (The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places so it was important that the loudspeakers not be intrusive to the space.)

Fitch Electronics installed two recently introduced Contour CT212 three-way loudspeakers as the main left and right on the orchestra level for 450 seats. To support the balcony level of 250 seats, two Contour CT28s are mounted with their Wall Bracket accessory. For bass, two SUB215 dual 15-inch subwoofers are flown in the center of the hall above the proscenium — M8 eye bolts are screwed into their rigging points at the top of each cabinet and are used to hang the subs in combination with custom hanging hardware made by 1 SOUND.

For extra support in the first rows, Fitch Electronics specified five Panorama MS34 compact loudspeakers as the front fills on stage. They’re deployed in 1 SOUND’s Mono + Stereo mode utilizing the proprietary M+S Controller interface in a design to maintain the stereo image in the seats next to the stage. And, three full-range Cannon C8s are mounted to the ceiling using their C-Clamp accessory for underbalcony support.

1 SOUND CEO Lou Mannarino visited the Eichelberger after the installation and did the system optimization for the venue and states: “It was such a pleasure to work in this historic theater and with Bill Fitch and his sons at Fitch Electronics. For us [1 SOUND], this was our first completed installation using our new SUB215s so I was pleased to hear their performance in this theater, their sonic clarity and musicality in the low frequencies, and also their efficiency and impact at high SPL. This project incorporated three of our new products we just launched this year, including the CT212 and C8 as well, so it was a proud moment for me hearing the results. They did a beautiful renovation at the Eichelberger Theater.”
