Harrison Audio announces its foray into the 500 series format with the 2024 NAMM Show introduction of the 32Cpre+ microphone preamplifier, MR3eq 3-band parametric equalizer, and Comp compressor, each taking elements from the company’s studio consoles of the 1970s, 80s and 90s. All are on display at the Anaheim Convention Center at both 18301.

The new 32Cpre+ takes the transformer-coupled microphone preamp from Harrison’s new 32Classic studio console and combines it with the Harrison LP/HP filters. Outfitted with a Jensen JT-MB-CPCA transformer-coupled mic-pre, it delivers +20 to +70 dB of gain and is capable of driving a range of mic types, including ribbon. Additionally, the front panel features 180-degree phase, 48-volt, -20 pad, Hi-Z impedance switches, and a combo XLR input with a 1/4-inch jack connector.

Meanwhile, the new MR3eq is an analog EQ originally developed for the Harrison MR3 studio console. It has three-band parametric equalizer with low and high-frequency 6 dB/octave shelf bands, which can be switched to a second order Bell response with Harrison’s proportional Q. The mid-band offers a continuously variable Q, while a separate high-pass filter section includes a 3 dB resonant peak.

Finally, the Comp 500 Series module is based on a classic “feed-forward” design, using a THAT 2180 VCA chip for quality analog performance. The compressor’s attack is program-dependent, and continuously adapts to the input signal. In addition, the Comp’s release time is continuously variable. These parameters mean that the Comp module can function both as a leveler, a vibe compressor, and more.

The new 500 series modules are shipping now and will be available for purchase at authorized retailers by the end of January. The 32Cpre+ is priced at $699.00/£599.00; MR3eq is $399.900/£319.00; and Comp is $399.900/£319.00.
