Grund Audio Announces New GQ Series Loudspeakers

Five loudspeaker models with MDF enclosures that are internally braced to ensure cabinet rigidity, available in passive or active designs.

Grund Audio Design has announced the new GQ Series, encompassing five new loudspeaker models all manufactured using MDF enclosures that are internally braced to ensure cabinet rigidity, and available in passive or active designs.

New GQ Series models include the GQ-10, GQ-12. GQ-15, GQ-153, and GQ-18S. The GQ-10, GQ-12, and GQ-15 are 2-way designs that employ a 1-inch high frequency compression driver with rotatable horns mated to their respective low-frequency transducer.

The GQ-153 is a 3-way design encompassing a 1-inch high frequency compression driver with rotatable horn, an 8–inch mid driver, and a 15-inch low frequency transducer. The GQ-18S is a sub bass system has an 18-inch low frequency transducer in a bass reflex enclosure.

The GQ-10 and GQ-12 are not only PA-type enclosures; they can also be positioned on the side for use as floor monitors. The GQ-10, GQ-12, and GQ-15 have pole cups so that they may easily be mated with the pole cup-equipped GQ-18S subwoofer for full-range “speaker on a stick” configurations.

GQ Series loudspeakers are finished with a durable, black polyurethane coat frequently utilized for spray-on truck bed liners. The protective finish is resistant to scrapes and also helps protect the inner components by keeping moisture and dirt at bay.

For the self-powered (active) models, power ranges from 200 to 800 watts. Multichannel inputs on these amplifiers include an XLR balanced microphone input, a 1/4-inch line input, and RCA inputs for use with CD players and similar equipment. Any two sources can be mixed internally.

Frank Grund, president of Grund Audio Design, states, “Our new GQ Series loudspeakers are extremely versatile, great sounding enclosures that are ideal for everything from mobile DJs and performing musicians through corporate AV and education. The ability to pole mount the GQ-10, GQ-12, or GQ-15 on top of the GQ-18S subwoofer creates an easy to transport, full range sound reinforcement system that delivers a high level of speech intelligibility and clear, natural sounding music reproduction. The powered models have versatile mixing capability that makes them a terrific choice for schools, corporate AV, and education usage. And with their rugged, polyurethane finish, these loudspeakers can easily withstand the bumps and scrapes that loudspeakers typically encounter while retaining their like new appearance. I’m confident these loudspeakers are well-suited to a wide range of general sound reinforcement applications.”

The passive Grund Audio Design GQ Series loudspeakers are expected to be available Q1 2014, with active models following later. MSRP pricing has not yet been determined.
