Electro-Voice Launches ZLX Portable Loudspeakers At Prolight+Sound 2013

Available in both powered/active and passive versions

At the Prolight+Sound 2013 show in Frankfurt, Electro-Voice announced the new ZLX line of portable loudspeakers available in both powered/active and passive versions. (Hall 8.0, Booth A22)

Both powered and passive ZLX loudspeakers are available in 12- and 15-inch two-way models and can be used for mains and monitors.

All are outfitted with EV-engineered drivers (EVS-12K or EVS-15L woofer, DH-1K titanium compression driver). Dispersion is 90 degrees (h) x 60 degrees (v). A proprietary split-baffle design optimizes driver time alignment for enhanced impact and intelligibility.

Powered versions include a 1,000-watt Class-D amplifier, as well as single-knob DSP control with LCD display and application/location presets that afford convenient tailoring of output to the specific applications. This control section also includes input level meters and independent amplifier control to quickly establish optimal gain structure.

Passive models are rated at a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, with power handling (continuous/peak) of 250/1,000 watts. All versions are rated to provide maximum SPL of at least 125 dB.

Cabinets offer a striking “industrial” aesthetic, with lightweight, durable composite construction and a unique hi/lo grip design for easy pole mounting and portability. Grilles are made of 18-gauge steel with black powder coat.

Powered/active versions include two XLR/TRS combo jacks, a 3.5 mm input and an XLR link output. Passive models have dual Neutrik NL4 connectors.

Dimensions are 27 x 16.6 x 15 inches (15-inch) and 24 x 14 x 14 inches (12-inch). Net weight for all models is well under 40 pounds.
