Earthworks Introduces SR40V High-Definition Vocal Microphone

Flat, extended frequency response with lightning fast impulse response

Earthworks has introduced the SR40V High Definition vocal microphone, which has a hyper cardioid polar pattern that delivers superior sounding, natural on- and off-axis performance.

The new SR40V incorporates a 9 mm back electret condenser-type transducer with a diaphragm measuring 5 microns to provide exceptionally fast transient response. Frequency range spans from 80 Hz to 40 kHz.

The SR40V’s patented True Live Sound (TLS) technology provides extreme accuracy in the time domain, which is essential for harmonics to be reproduced faithfully and not be smeared or distorted. The new SR40V achieves the re-creation of the True Live Sound with its circuitry by combining flat, extended frequency response with lightning fast impulse response. This circuitry is handcrafted to match each capsule for optimum performance.

The self-noise rating is just 22 dB SPL (A weighted), the sensitivity rating is 10 mV/Pa (-40 dBV/Pa), and the peak acoustic output rating is 145 dB SPL.

The SR40V Each is handmade in the USA and has a rugged stainless steel body that feels great in the hand—thanks in no small part to its unique blend of balance and precision machining.

“We are extremely proud of this new mic,” states Bill Norton, Earthworks COO. “Earthworks’ dedication to producing what we call True Live Sound has long been a hallmark that defines our entire product line. For quite some time now, music and audio professionals have asked us for a vocal microphone with these characteristics and the SR40V is the result of that endeavor.

“Everything about this microphone—from its accuracy of sound and the way it feels in the hand to its refined build quality—unite to form a world-class experience that better enables vocalists to showcase their talents in an entirely new light.”

The new Earthworks SR40V is expected to be available Q1, 2011. Pricing has not yet been determined.
