Dynaudio has announced the addition of the new Core 5 compact monitor and Core Sub Compact subwoofer to its Core series of reference loudspeakers.
The Core 5 is a two-way, active system with a 5-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter driven by up to 280 watts of class D amplification in a design specifically for cramped spaces in a stereo configuration or to provide width and height support in immersive setups. Stated maximum SPL is 116 dB at 1 meter, with bass response down to 45 Hz at -6dB and 51 Hz at ±3 dB.
In addition, Core 5 uses the same platform as the rest of the series, outfitted with a set of filters that compensate for position and boundary locations, including meter bridges, stands, brackets, free-space and soffit mounts. There’s also a low-frequency 80 Hz Linkwitz-Riley cutoff for use with a subwoofer, as well as sound-balance tilts (Bright, Natural and Dark) to fine-tune performance more precisely for the room. Users can add variable input sensitivity to the mix along with user-defined maximum output SPL settings (with the greatest bit-depth), customized AES3 stream-channel routing and more.
The Core Sub Compact has stated response down to 16 Hz, with 115 dB peak half-space. It also includes a set of DSP controls from the rest of the Core family, and is driven by 280 watts of Pascal amplification for each of its twin drive units.
It also uses the same amp module and DSP engine (which means you get all the customisation options you could want. Analogue, AES3 digital, everything from a 2.1-channel system to a full 17.1.11 immersive rig).
