Danley Sound Labs Launches New J8-94 Large-Format Loudspeaker

Employs the company's patented Synergy Horn design and loaded with 46 drivers connected to a single horn to meet the needs of large-scale applications.

Danley Sound Labs has announced the expansion of its Jericho family with the introduction of the new J8-94 full-range loudspeaker that incorporates high driver density in a design for applications that include stadiums, arenas and other large-scale spaces and events.

Employing the company’s patented Synergy Horn design, it’s loaded with 46 drivers connected to a single horn, including 24 1-inch compression drivers mated to a fifth-generation high-frequency combiner, a dozen 6-inch midrange drivers and ten 10-inch low-frequency drivers.

The J8-94 is offered both in a 13-ply Baltic Birch enclosure encased in PolyUrea for protection from impact and atmospheric conditions as well as the EW (Extreme Weather) variant with added protection from the elements due to the use of high-density polyurethane panels impregnated with fiberglass fibers. Install and touring versions are equipped with M10 rigging points.

The loudspeaker offers single or dual amp mode utilizing either one or two DNA20K4-Pro amplifiers. The use of the second DNA20K4-Pro provides system redundancy in case an amplifier goes down during the event/show. If it does occur, only half the loudspeaker goes down and the show goes on. Proprietary Sentinel circuitry — a multistage limiter — is designed to provide high-frequency driver protection in the event of overloads. It’s inaudible during normal operation so dynamic range is not compromised.

“The J8-94 was developed right after the J7-95. Where the J7 was about getting as much sound out of a very compact package, the J8 is about utilizing that same technology to gain more SPL with slightly less size constraints,” explains Skip Welch, director of sales & marketing at Danley Sound Labs. “The J8 utilizes the same fifth generation mid/high combiner as the J7 but with an even higher driver density.”

Originally conceived and introduced with the J1-94 in 2010, Jericho Horn loudspeakers utilize multiple patented Danley developments that include the previously mentioned Synergy Horn as well as Layered Combiner and Tapped Horn technologies, along with other mid- and high-frequency combining approaches.

“We always engineer our loudspeakers to meet the needs of our customers,” adds Mike Hedden, chief steward in charge at Danley Sound Labs. “The increasing desire for more sound pressure levels at longer distances keeps pushing Danley further than anyone in our industry.”.

“The J8 is the perfect compliment to any of our high output subwoofers including those in the BC family of subwoofers,” Welch concludes. “If you’re interested in experiencing the J8, feel free to attend one of our road show events this year or contact one of our dealers in the United States or around the world.”

Danley is hosting a demo event and launch of the J8-94 on Thursday, April 28 at Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, NC. Go here for more information and to register to attend.
