D.A.S. Audio Celebrating 40th Anniversary

A rich history of innovation results in global presence

This year, 2011, marks the 40th anniversary of D.A.S. Audio. Founded in 1971 by a young industrial engineer named Juan Alberola, D.A.S. Audio has evolved into a global sound reinforcement leader with a comprehensive collection of products offering versatility and solutions for the contractor, sound rental companies, and the working musician.

The son of a composer and music educator, music played a central role in Juan Alberola’s life. Being an avid music listener, he parlayed his love of music and high end hi-fi systems into a sound system installation business for nightclubs and bars.

Due to the high cost of imported loudspeaker products, Alberola began designing and manufacturing his own loudspeaker systems. With a passion for audio, he strived to incorporate the finer aspects of high fidelity into every design. This dedication to the art of music and sound became the energizing force behind an amazing entrepreneurial evolution known worldwide as D.A.S.

Over the years, D.A.S. Audio’s loudspeakers and compression drivers have earned an enviable reputation throughout the world for exceptional performance and reliability by incorporating the latest advances in transducer design and manufacture, including state-of-the-art coil winding technologies, the use of composite adhesives, and efficient cooling schemes.

Similarly, the company pioneered the use of high-density structural polymers for the construction of acoustic enclosures. These advanced materials and production techniques facilitated unique loudspeaker system designs that differentiated D.A.S. products from those of its competitors and positioned the company at the forefront of European manufacturers.

In the 1990s, D.A.S. developed a global presence with distribution on all five of the world’s continents. In order to provide faster and more efficient logistics on the American continent, D.A.S. established a subsidiary in the United States—known as D.A.S. Audio of America, Inc.

Coincidentally, 2011 marks D.A.S. Audio of America’s 15th years in the United States, making D.A.S. Audio be one of very few European sound reinforcement manufacturers with a presence of such duration in North America.

The company’s products can be found at many of the most prestigious venues around the globe, including the Minsk Arena (Minsk, Belarus), The Stadium of the Alps (Turin, Italy), and the Mabee Center (Oklahoma, USA) to name just a few.

Robert Giner, D.A.S. Audio international marketing director, states, “D.A.S. Audio is a special company with a unique culture that fosters and rewards entrepreneurship. There’s a very special sense of commitment by everyone at D.A.S. to develop and sell cutting-edge products with the the highest level of sound quality, exceptional feature sets, and world-class reliability. As we move forward, I am confident our rich history of innovation will continue.”
