Clair Brothers Launching New ONE Series Monitors, New Coaxial Loudspeakers At PL+S

New 1AM monitor also available as the 1AM+, the first self-powered monitor from the company

At the upcoming Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt, Clair Brothers is introducing two new ONE Series stage monitors as well as two new coaxial loudspeakers.

The new 1AM is a coaxial stage monitor with one common source point for both the low and high frequencies. It’s also available as the 1AM+, the first self-powered monitor in the Clair Brothers line.

Outfitted with integral mounting points and a pole mount, both versions can also serve a range of portable and installed PA applications. A family of optional mounting
accessories is available to facilitate permanent installation configurations.

The 1AM/1AM+ incorporate a high-frequency compression driver with a 1.5-inch throat diameter (3-inch voice coil), a pure titanium diaphragm, and a neodymium magnet assembly. The driver is joined to a proprietary asymmetrical horn with unique physical acoustic filters for enhanced intelligibility. A 12-inch cone transducer provides mid-bass and low-frequency reproduction.

Dispersion is 40 x 60 degrees (h x v, rotatable), frequency response is stated as 50 Hz–20 kHz (-10 dB), and maximum output (peak) is 133 dB. Power handling for both versions is listed as 350 watts continuous and 1,400 watts peak (LF), and 80 watts continuous and 160 watts peak (HF).

Dual rear-mounted connectors (both male) allow the use of multiple cabinets from a single amplifier. Additionally, there are two slightly more hidden connectors. One is positioned within the right side handle and the other on the bottom. When used for drum fills or in pole-mount positions these additional connectors prove to be useful for clean cable management.

The 1AM+ is outfitted with light weight OEM 2-channel amplifier module made exclusively for Clair Brothers. The base configuration of the 1AM+ provides similar DSP to the kiTSeries, with 32-bit floating point processing with crossover slopes up to 48 dB/octave and FIR filtering. Presets include a new 1AM monitor mode, a 12AM emulation mode, and full-range and high-passed PA modes. The preset modes are available as Lake processing modules as well for non-powered units.

The 1AM+ input panel has PowerCon (In/Thru) connectors and a pair of XLRs (In/Thru), and it’s voltage agile with a PFC corrected PSU that accepts 85-240 volts AC, 50/60 Hz. Low-profile styling and ergonomic side handles, along with an extended front handle, provide aesthetic appeal and portability. The grille is constructed of 14-gauge perforated steel and is specially treated to create a durable exterior finish. Dimensions of both versions are 14.8 x 20.1 x 22 inches (h x w x d). Weight of the 1AM is 50 pounds while the 1AM+ weighs 51 pounds.

Also joining the ONE Series line is the 1.5AM coaxial stage monitor, offering many of the same attributes as the new 1AM. It incorporates an HF compression driver with 2-inch throat diameter (4-inch voice coil), a titanium 4-inch diaphragm with a titanium nitride coating, and a neodymium magnet assembly. The driver is joined to proprietary asymmetrical horn, again to enhance intelligibility. A 15-inch carbon fiber reinforced cone transducer provides mid-bass and low frequency reproduction.

Dispersion is 40 x 60 degrees (h x v, rotatable), frequency response is stated as 43 Hz–20 kHz (-10 dB), and maximum output (peak) is 136 dB. Power handling is listed as 800 watts continuous and 3,200 watts peak (LF), and 130 watts continuous and 260 watts peak (HF).

Clair Brothers is also debuting two new compact coaxial loudspeakers designed for a range of applications, the 8CX and 5CX, with 8-inch and 5-inch neodymium transducers, respectively.

The new Clair Brothers 8CX compact coaxial loudspeaker.

The 8CX offers 12 integral rigging points as well as an integrated pole mount, and both models draw from a collection of mounting accessories. These include horizontal and vertical mounting brackets, threaded stud plates, pipe clamp mounts, chain rigging points, low profile pan/tilt brackets and array mode top-bar style plates.

The 8CX offers a pair of options in horizontal dispersion angles: a 100-degree conic horn for near field coverage applications and a 70-degree conic constant directivity horn for applications requiring tighter coverage and increased projection. Frequency response is stated as 88 Hz–20 kHz (-10 dB), and maximum output (peak) is 128 dB. Power handling is 250 watts program and 500 watts peak. It measures 13.5 x 8.9 x 8.7 inches (h x w x d) and weighs 21 pounds.

The 5CX has a 70-degree conic constant directivity horn. Frequency response is stated as 85 Hz–20 kHz (-10 dB), and maximum output (peak) is 118 dB. Power handling is 100 watts program and 400 watts peak. It measures 9 x 6 x 6 inches (h x w x d) and weighs 8 pounds.
