Attention All Passengers, QSC Page Stations Now Shipping

QSC Audio is now shipping the PS-1600, PS- 800 and PS-400 16, 8 and 4-button page stations with Q-Sys Designer V2.0.

Released little more than a year ago, the Q-Sys digital processing platform has already established itself in high-profile installations in stadiums, theme parks, cruise ships, museums and legislative chambers worldwide.

With the introduction of the PS-Series page stations and Version 2.0 Q-Sys Designer, Q-Sys further demonstrates its commitment to the needs of transportation hubs and other facilities needing sophisticated public address capability.

Version 2.0 of Q-Sys Designer provides powerful user control and management features such as the new Administrator Interface tool that enables system management without taking the system off-line. It allows the staff of the facility to make changes to zone assignments, priority levels, page commands, passwords, schedulers and other parameters without getting into the underlying system design.

The system designer can determine how much or how little is accessible to the facility staff and can assign password protected access. Other new tools include the new Device Configurator, allowing quick and easy setup of our network devices, and the User Control Interface Viewer application that provides user control on any networked PC in the system.

“With these new releases, Q-Sys has reached a whole new level of functionality,” says Dale Sandberg, product manager of the Q-Sys family. “We’ve added a number of control features, but the one that I think many of our customers will be most excited about in V2.0 is iOS support. Once the app is approved by Apple and released, users will be able to download it to their iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) and run Q-Sys User Control Interfaces via Wi-Fi. Other new features include the enhanced DSP components such as the FIR Filtering, Doppler shift, and the new Delay Matrix.”

“These new Page Stations are also extremely flexible in their capabilities,” relates Sandberg. “Besides paging, they can trigger message playback from the Core, or recall system snapshots. They are PoE network devices and offer a 240 x 60 display and capacitive touch buttons that will never wear out. The Page Stations work together with the new Public Address Router component which is the center of QSys PA systems. The PA Router enables routing or delaying (store and forward) of pages as well as queuing and sorting based on priority and zone availability; playing and routing of pre-recorded messages is also available as is BGM routing and ducking.”

As with other Q-Sys devices, they support dual networks for redundancy. All versions are offered with either gooseneck or handheld microphones and also include a second microphone input so that a single station can serve, for example both the jetway and the kiosk of an airport departure gate. Q-Sys I/O Frames are not required for connection of the QSC page stations but will be needed for other audio inputs and outputs.

Q-Sys PS-1600, PS-800 and PS-400 page stations are currently available from authorized QSC dealers and distributors worldwide.
