Adamson Heads Up Revitalized System At Winter Haven Worship Center In Florida

AV production/installation company MABE implements new system serving 1,000-seat sanctuary that utilizes IS10b compact line arrays, IS119b subwoofers and more.

Winter Haven Worship Center in Florida recently upgraded the sound reinforcement serving its 1,000-seat sanctuary with a new system headed by Adamson loudspeakers implemented by MABE, a Florida-based AV production and installation company, with assistance from sales rep firm Griffith Sales.

“The previous system lacked clarity and dynamics. It did not cover the entire listening area, was aging, and had some bad components,” explains MABE lead engineer Richard Vaughan. “The system was not capable of reproducing the high-energy worship style without getting very harsh, which resulted in listener fatigue.”

Specifically, the new system incorporates a main stereo hang of nine IS10b compact line array cabinets on each side along with four IS10pb full-range point source cabinets for outside and center fill. Eight PC5i coaxial loudspeakers were incorporated for front row nearfield coverage, while low frequencies are reinforced with eight IS119b subwoofers installed in an arc under the stage.

The pre-installation process for the IS-Series system required 3D CAD drawings and several site visits to verify the specifics location of the loudspeakers. The MABE team re-designed the stage cavities to make room for the IS119b subwoofers and PC5i front fills so they would be heard clearly without being seen.

MABE account manager Steve Griner concludes, “The Adamson system covered the room so well and gave such a warm sound. I’m constantly impressed with how smooth the vocal range is on these boxes. Adamson, overall, is a very smooth-sounding box that even at higher SPL doesn’t give you the ear fatigue you get with a lot of other manufacturers. We did a demo and review some other boxes with the client, but it was clear that the Adamson system was the winner in coverage, sound quality, and bottom-line cost.”
