Updated Master Fader 2.1 For Mackie DL Series Mixers Now Available (Includes Video)

New output processing features give DL users more power to shape their sound

Mackie has announced the release of Master Fader 2.1, the primary control app for Mackie DL Series (DL1608 and DL806) digital mixers. Master Fader v2.1 delivers several new features, including enhanced output processing.

“With 1.5 million shows mixed using DL Series mixers, we wanted to focus on features that our pro users would appreciate,” states Ben Olswang, Mackie product manager. “So we added new, powerful output processing that replaces expensive outboard system processors.”

Drawing from user requests, Master Fader 2.1 features a 4-band parametric EQ (PEQ) on all outputs. The new EQ works in parallel with the current 31-band GEQ to give users even more control over their outputs. The new PEQ also includes separate high-pass and low-pass filters with variable slope control.

Also new to each output is alignment delay. With up to 350ms of delay available on each output, users can dial in delay stacks, fill speakers and other loudspeaker alignment tasks. The alignment delay also includes a temperature control to adjust the delay for the ambient room temp.

“In addition to the processing updates, we really wanted to bring DL to even more users than ever before,” Olswang notes. “We therefore localized Master Fader into 4 of the most commonly used languages (in addition to English) among DL users – German, Spanish, French and Mandarin.”

With Master Fader available in a user’s native language, learning to use the mixer becomes much more simple and intuitive. It also allows people to use the mixer more fully, as settings and update dialogs will be that much easier to understand.

Master Fader v2.1 highlights:

—4-band parametric EQ + HPF/LPF on all outputs

—Alignment delay on all outputs

—Multi-language support

Master Fader v2.1 is available as a free download from the App Store here. (Existing users will be able to update directly on their iPad.) It’s also available here.

The DL Series will continue to see frequent software updates that drastically increase the feature set. For more information on My Fader, Master Fader and the DL1608/DL806 and to check system/device compatibility requirements, go here.
