SynAudCon Announces New “Speech Intelligibility For Public Address Systems” Online Course

Three-step program presented by Pat Brown covers key parameters, application of theory to reality, and case studies.

SynAudCon has released a new training course entitled “Course 140: Speech Intelligibility for Public Address Systems,” a three-step program presented by Pat Brown that covers key parameters, application of theory to reality, and case studies.

“General and emergency announcements don’t get a second chance. Clear and coherent communication is paramount,” Brown says. “When speech intelligibility is required, there are rules that cannot be violated.”

Step one in the equation is information preservation, the most important requirement for a public address system and the most difficult to achieve. The course covers the three vital parameters of this aspect, and then moves on to applying this knowledge, with the included calculator assisting in visually executing the math as well as as helping to develop an intuition for how the variables interact.

This is followed by putting what’s been learned to woking, with the principles reviewed through case studies. Attendees will actually see and hear them played out in real spaces.

The training is accompanied by a 26-page reference manual, video transcriptions, an IntelliKwik interactive calculator, resource material, case studies, quizzes, and access to 39 instructional videos for 45 days. A SynAudCon Certificate is awarded upon passing the final exam, and attendees will also be approved for RUs and CEUs.

Cost of the course is $249 USD. Go here to find out more, view an an instructional video on room acoustics from Course 140, and to register for the course.
