The Roadie Clinic, in partnership with MakoRx, has announced RoadieDoc RX, a subscription-based health plan built to enhance the lives of touring people with free medications, virtual urgent care and mental health services while they’re on the road.

There are no restrictions for who is eligible for this plan — it applies to anyone working in professional production, including touring and theatrical fields extending to venue owners and staff. It’s for everyone working in all sectors of music and entertainment working in the United States.

In addition, the plan is pause-able. For example, someone can sign up in May and then if their tour
goes to Australia in October, they can pause the plan until they’re back — and not be charged. In addition, family members on the plan can stay on plan even if it’s paused by the primary member.

The cost of the plan is $45/month/person and includes:

— 24/7 urgent care telemedicine services
— Appointment-based virtual therapy
— Access to 300 preventative meds at no additional cost
— Local pharmacy network fulfillment, which often means free delivery to venues, hotels and home

“Mako Medical has been a major supporter of The Roadie Clinic since 2020,” explains Courtney Klimson, co-founder of the clinic. “In the height of Covid, they were on the frontline processing hundreds of thousands of Covid tests each week. While that was happening in the public eye, behind the scenes they were introducing us to other medical entities, most notably MakoRx.

“The team at MakoRx has spent the last three years crafting supplemental, subscription-based health plans (not insurance), and they found a way to make this accessible to any and every roadie touring nationwide,” she continues. “Outside of this project, they have been receptive to every need that has come to us on a medical level, and if it was a service they couldn’t provide, they went out of their way to make sure that each roadie found solution that worked for their needs.

“The partnerships created within The Roadie Clinic community are truly what allow us to keep going each and every day. That includes whatever organization you’re reading this through, as many industry colleagues, manufactures and fellow nonprofits have embraced this new platform. The Roadie Clinic remains an advocacy group for roadies and their families, and while we are able to offer this medical supplement, it in no way changes the scope of our work. We are as committed as ever to sustaining current relationships with professionals in mental health, finance, overdose prevention, legal consultations, nutrition and the like.”
