RCF Deployed For Upgrade At Signal Iduna Park In Germany

Integrator fulfil engineering GmbH continues its update at the home of the Borussia Dortmund football club with the addition of HL 40 line arrays, TTS 36 subwoofers and more that join existing components serving the largest stadium in the country.

A recent sonic upgrade at 81,365-capacity Signal Iduna Park (also known as Westfalenstadion) in Dortmund, Germany, the home grounds of football club Borussia Dortmund (BVB), incorporates a range of loudspeakers from RCF joining existing components from the company that were put in place in a previous upgrade project.

Signal Iduna Park is the largest stadium in Germany, The south stand, in particular, seats around 25,000 BVB fans who provide tremendous support for the players on the pitch during home matches. The system in the area of the long stands was already modernized in 2013 with new RCF line arrays.

To further improve the performance and coverage in the corners of the stadium and the pitch area, fulfil engineering GmbH installed 12 line arrays comprised of 128 RCF HL 40 passive enclosures and four TTS 36 passive subwoofers. Meanwhile, the playing area is reinforced with eight HL 2290 and another HL 2260 loudspeaker. The passive units draw their power from 24 Powersoft multi-channel power amplifiers, with the entire stadium now equipped with 358 RCF loudspeakers.

Norbert Labudda, managing director of fulfil engineering GmbH, says, “Our company installed the first RCF units in SIGNAL IDUNA PARK back in 2013. In the process, the corners were deliberately left in the old stock. The venue operator decided to complete the sound reinforcement system to further finalize the performance and acoustic illumination of the arena in view of the 2024 European Championship. We chose passive elements from RCF, which, in addition to uncomplicated and safe rigging, have an optimal IP class and whose performance meets the client’s high demands.

“After all, the system is installed in a stadium whose extraordinary atmosphere is famous and is also the venue for a semi-final match as part of the European Championship 2024.”
