Outline has announced that its FPGA-based Newton processor has been awarded a patent (N° 102018000004143) in Italy, and further, that it has also filed the appropriate application for an international patent.
Newton debuted in 2017 and has subsequently been adopted by a number of leading audio hire operations and system engineers, designed to offer a unique feature set in a user-friendly package. Go here for more specifics on Newton.
Another Outline patent lies at the heart of Newton’s sonic capabilities, namely the WFIR “warped” filters (more here) that are stated to provide 10 times more resolution on mid-low frequencies than traditional FIR filters. The company also announces that Newton and its Dashboard control software (downloadable free from App Store here) will shortly undergo an important firmware/software upgrade designed to further extend capabilities.
