L-Acoustics announced that it has been honored during the Décibels d’Or awards by the French government’s Conseil National du Bruit (National Council on Noise), recognizing the ability of the newly launched L Series line source array to manage sound, keeping it on the audience area while reducing spillage to areas where it is not desired.
It is the first time in the Décibels d’Or’s history that an audio manufacturer has been honored. The award founded in 1991 and is granted only once every three years.
The L Series has been awarded two patents. Specifically designed for medium-sized festivals and concert halls, it comprises two elements that are designed to work together or on their own: L2 above and L2D below. The company states that the system reduces noise by 15 dB outside the coverage zone.
The system achieves directivity control with L-Acoustics Panflex technology that combines mechanical orientation with electronic optimization, enabling horizontal directivity control while DSP optimization ensures vertical directivity control, tailoring the loudspeaker’s coverage to the specific installation geometry.
In the low-frequency range, the L2 offers a choice between cardioid and supercardioid directivity to help reduce rear rejection by up to 15 dB.
