Lab.gruppen Adds Three New LF-Optimized Additions To FP+ Series Power Amplifiers

Lab.gruppen has announced the addition of three new models to the FP+ Series range, including a new flagship amplifier, the FP 14000. Also new are the FP 9000 and the FP 4000, bringing the total number of amplifiers in the FP+ range up to seven.

FP 14000 delivers 14,000 W (2 × 7000 W @ 2 ohms) in just 2U. Optimized for sustained performance into extreme low frequency loads, FP 14000 nevertheless maintains Lab.gruppen’s reputation for exceptionally smooth and transparent mid- and high-frequency response.

The Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS) has been updated throughout the range to provide more sustained high power during extended bursts of low frequency content, while at the same time ensuring stable rail voltages even with wide fluctuations of external mains voltage.

FP 9000 and FP 4000 also offer very high power density, delivering 9,000 W (2 × 4500 W 2 ohms) and 4,000 W (2 x 2000 W 2ohms) respectively, in just 2U.

At the core of their performance, and indeed that of the FP 14000, is Lab.gruppen’s patented Class TD output stage, an amplifier topology that approaches the exceptional efficiency of Class D while retaining the sonic purity of proven Class B technology designs.

Like all FP + models, the new amplifiers benefit from Lab.gruppen’s Intercooler system which keeps the amplifier cool under extreme demands. Comprehensive warning and protection features minimize the risk of failure.

Further, FP 4000, FP 9000 and FP 14000 are all shipped with a NomadLink network interface as standard. In conjunction with DeviceControl software, NomadLink allows comprehensive monitoring of amplifier status (including fault or warning indications) and also enables remote control of power on/off, channel mute, and channel solo functions.

“Whilst we strive to innovate and improve all the time at Lab.gruppen, there are some things that are already so good, all you can do is optimize them for different flavors of application,” said head of marketing, Tim Chapman.

“FP+ definitely falls into that category and remains a cornerstone of our business. The ground-breaking PLM Series of Powered Loudspeaker Management systems is built on an FP+ platform, and FP+ as a stand-alone product continues to remain in inordinately high demand, so we’re now very pleased to be able to offer our customers even more power output options for their favorite amplifier.”
