K-array Introduces KX12 Coaxial Loudspeaker, New KRX System Packages

Three new portable KRX systems can be created by combining new KX12 with active K-array subwoofers

K-array has introduced the KX12, a 12-inch-loaded coaxial loudspeaker that can be adjusted to any desired incline as a single array element while maintaining a balanced dispersion pattern at all frequencies on-axis through a horn with an adjustable orientation.

Dispersion is provided by a 100-degree by 30-degree horn that can be rotated and also adjusted to provide narrower vertical coverage or wider horizontal coverage.

Several dedicated accessories assist in the set up of joining, flying and stacking the loudspeaker, including making it a line array component. Up to eight units can be flown with a safety factor of 7:1 to form a line array in which each loudspeaker can be individually adjusted with a different horn position.

Housed in a compact steel chassis that offers solid rigidity, the KX12 is rated to deliver a continuous SPL of 127 dB, with a frequency range of 150 Hz to 18 kHz. It is compatible with all K-array KMT subwoofers due to the dedicated presets stored on board every K-array amplifier.

By combining the KX12 with active K-array subwoofers, three new portable KRX systems can be created, differing in the size of the subwoofer and the number of KX12 units used (pictured below).

With powered subwoofers that maintain the same digital editing features of all K-array active subwoofers, the KRX systems offer an integrated touch screen, providing control over the main DSP functions such as input/output levels, signal routing, offset delays for subwoofer and mid-high loudspeaker output (up to 12 meters each) and overall system delays (up to 330 meters). All DSP functions, including EQ, can also be controlled remotely via software through USB or RS485 (3-pin XLR).

The systems include dedicated accessories that provide a multitude of setups. The K-JOINT2B is a versatile piece of hardware with fixed angles used to adjoin two KX loudspeakers with the possibility to adjust the angle several degrees. A 35 mm extension pole is also included to position the loudspeakers on the subwoofer for a column arrangement. To fly a KX12 line array, the K-FLY2B is a dependable, durable fly bar that can be purchased separately.

The KRX202 is the smallest of the three new systems, comprised of two KX12s coupled with a pair of KMT18 18-inch subwoofers and including an extendable pole and proper joining and stacking hardware. The KRX402 is the medium-sized system, comprised of four KX12s paired with two KMT21 21-inch subwoofers.

The largest KRX802 system combines six KX12s with two KMT218 dual-18-inch subwoofers. It converts into a line array that delivers high SPL and bass response.
