Extron MLS 608 D Series For Simplified Digital Switching Is Now Shipping

MLS 608 D is available in three variations, including the standard MLS 608 D with variable preamp outputs, the MLS 608 D SA with a stereo integrated amplifier and 20 watts rms output per channel into 4 or 8 ohms, and the MLS 608 D MA with a mono integrated 70 volt amplifier with 40 watts rms output

Extron Electronics has announced the immediate availability of the simple-to-use MLS 608 D, a switcher that integrates digital and analog sources in a single product.

The switcher enables AV system expansion when more inputs are required than what the projector can handle.

The MLS 608 D offers digital video switching with four HDCP-compliant HDMI inputs and analog video switching with four universal inputs plus an Extron Universal MTP Twisted Pair input.

It outputs HDMI and analog MTP Twisted Pair signals to the included MTP/HDMI U R twisted pair receiver, providing a complete digital and analog video and audio switching system.

In addition, the MLS 608 D includes many integrator-friendly features such as HDMI audio de-embedding, Mic/line audio matrix mixing, and ProDSP, an exclusive Extron technology with an extensive array of easy-to-use digital audio processing tools for audio system set-up and fine-tuning.

Switcher control is provided via the front panel backlit buttons or through RS-232 for separate display and room control capabilities. It can also work seamlessly in conjunction with an Extron TouchLink touchpanel control system or a MediaLink Controller for enhanced display and room control.

“As more professional AV system designs are updated to include digital products in existing analog AV systems, the MLS 608 D meets the challenges by providing streamlined switching capabilities for these mixed format systems,” says Casey Hall, vice president of sales and marketing for Extron. “These switchers also feature our exclusive ProDSP technology for full audio system configuration and optimization without the use of outboard DSP equipment, simplifying integration for our customers.”

The switcher’s analog universal inputs accept common video formats, including high resolution RGB and composite video to HDTV.

The MLS 608 D features EDID Minder that automatically manages EDID communication between the display device and the sources, ensuring that all sources power up properly and reliably output content to the display. The switcher includes seven-input stereo audio switching to accompany incoming video sources.

The MLS 608 D is available in three variations, including the standard MLS 608 D with variable preamp outputs, the MLS 608 D SA with a stereo integrated amplifier and 20 watts rms output per channel into 4 or 8 ohms, and the MLS 608 D MA with a mono integrated 70 volt amplifier with 40 watts rms output.

ProDSP is an Extron-developed audio platform based on a powerful 32/64-bit floating point DSP engine, offering easy-to-use tools to control level, dynamics, filters, delay, ducking, loudness, and feedback suppression. ProDSP is managed by the intuitive DSP Configurator Software version 2.0.

With ProDSP, the MLS 608 D eliminates the need for outboard audio DSP equipment when integrating audio in a wide range of AV presentation applications.
