dBTechnologies Expands DVA Series Modular Line Array With RDNet-Ready DVA-T8

New driver technology, higher output and RDNet control

The new dBTechnologies DVA-T8 is the last and most advanced incarnation of the successful DVA Series of modular line array products.

The DVA-T8 is an active 3-way line array module equipped with the same innovative technologies that are included in the compatible DVA-T12 in a form factor that mirrors the original DVA-T4 in the series. New driver technology, higher output and RDNet control are additional features the DVA-T8 offers.

The 3-way design incorporates an 8-in neodymium woofer paired with a 350-watt power amplifer cover the low frequency ranges with an assertive punch that reaches down to 70 Hz.

Another 350 watts splits evenly between the midrange and high frequency transducers. Accurate midrange response is supplied by a 6.5-in neodymium transducer housed in a sealed chassis coupled with a pair of 1-in HF neodymium drivers delivering responsive, richly detailed signals with remarkably linear frequency response.

Developed especially for use in line arrays, these drivers may be deployed in very close proximity to one another, essential to minimize interference in such arrays. The constant directivity horns, HF drivers and midrange woofer are optimized to provide a uniform 100- x1 5-degree coverage pattern distributing SPL evenly. This is done by coupling the vector addition of individual horns’ output with cylindrical wave formation.

These two effects come together to create a uniform coverage pattern that is easily adpated to different venues by varying the length of the array and adjusting the splay between individual components.

Signal processing is handled by 24-bit/96kHz AD/DA converter coupled with aa 56-bit DSP processor with double precision filters providing nine system presets, dual active limiter to handl mutliband RMS as well as peak and thermal conditions, delay and gain reduction.

The polypropylen metal reinforced frame of the DVA-T8 is identical in size to its counterpart, the DVA-T4 (23.2 x 9.6 x 13.08 inches) and weighs in at 31.3 pounds.

Integrated rigging hardware is designed in a system approach, allowing the DVA-T8 to be used in an array with the DVA-T12 as well as the DVA-S09 or DVA-S10DP subwoofers in flyable situations, or the DVA-S20DP and DVA-S30N subwoofers in stacked arrays.

The DVA-T8 includes RCF’s onboard RDNet control. RDNet is RCF’s RS-485 proprietary protocol allowing for monitoring of all system components and control of system parameters.
