The AVnu Alliance will host a panel discussion titled “IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB): The Future of Standards-Based A/V Networking” at the upcoming 2010 PLASA show in London. The event is open to the public.
The alliance was founded in mid-2009 and has since quadrupled in size, with recent membership announcements including Biamp, Bosch, Molex, Peavey and XMOS.
The panel, comprised of representatives from alliance member companies, will explore the role of the AVB Standards in the professional A/V industry, as well as consumer electronics and automotive applications.
An in-depth explanation of AVB and related IEEE standards will be presented, followed by a discussion of the advantages of an open non-proprietary technology, the role of silicon makers to ensure a cost-effective solution, and the critical role a compliance program will play to ensure interoperability of AVB devices. The panel will be chaired by Dan Goldstein, Press Officer for Integrated Systems Europe.
The panel discussion will take place on Monday, September 13 between 2 pm and 3:30 pm in the Marlborough Room, Earls Court 1. Pre-registration is available on the PLASA website, www.plasashow.com.

AVnu Alliance member companies Avid, Harman and Marvell will also demonstrate AVB-enabled technologies operating on a single network. At the Avid stand, a Crown amplifier will be demonstrated receiving AVB audio from an Avid console through a Marvell switch.
