Live Sound Advice is offering a free instructional seminar, entitled The Art of Equalization, focusing on preventing feedback, improving intelligibility, and creating better music mixes.
The event is slated for Wednesday, May 11, at the Williamsport Banquet Hall in Williamsport, MD, beginning at 6:30 pm. It will also be streamed live as a webinar.

The seminar will be led by veteran educator Mike Sokol, an audio professional with more than 40 years of mixing music at all levels and an adjunct professor at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. He’s also a contributing author to ProSoundWeb and moderates a popular forum on the LAB.
Among the topics that will be covered:
—Basic room equalization with pink noise
—Finding and fixing feedback in a hurry
—How microphone selection affects equalization
—Making instruments and voices pop in the mix
—Frequency bracketing and carving techniques
Sokol will be utilizing a DiGiCo S21 console and Tectonic Speaker Panels in providing relevant demonstrations in the seminar, which will be followed by a Q&A session. Attendees in Williamsport will also be served pizza starting at 6 pm.
