1 SOUND has announced the release of the CM38, a new cardioid floor monitor incorporating three eight-inch drivers, one of which is coaxial, working with a proprietary progressive horn design in a cabinet that stands eight inches tall.

1 SOUND founder and designer Lou Mannarino, also a front-of-house engineer, states that the motivation for developing the CM38 arose from a spectrum of experiences, from working televised live orchestral concerts, where producers did not want to see monitors on stage in the camera frame, to mixing rock concerts for noted musicians and singers and understanding their needs.

A bi-amped floor monitor, it is stated to produce up to130 dB maximum SPL with a bandwidth down to 60 dB. The passive cardioid behavior is designed to cancel about 8 dB of mid-low frequencies on the sides and behind the loudspeaker in its off-axis response to reduce noise on stage while focusing energy where it most needs to be.

The progressive horn design is also engineered to provide more controlled frequency equalization and maintain high frequencies at a farther distance from the loudspeaker. If an artist backs up from the monitor, the high frequencies will be able to push a farther distance, keeping up with the lower frequencies.

As with all 1 SOUND loudspeakers, the CM38 is available in various colors and finishes with a short turnaround time and is IP55 and saltwater resistant. It will be on display at the company’s booth (C9221) and demo room (N108) at the upcoming 2024 InfoComm show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
