Each spring, Calvary Full Gospel Church hosts the Northeast Worship Institute (NWI), a gathering where highly experienced educators provide training for worship teams, worship leaders, and tech teams. When searching for the best sound-reinforcement capabilities for this year’s event, the organizers chose a system based on WorxAudio Technologies TrueLine line arrays loudspeakers.
Full-service audio-visual integration firm Horizon AV of Pitman, New Jersey, was contracted to handle sound reinforcement for this year’s event. After meeting with NWI’s organizers, Horizon AV COO Joshua Kell elected to deploy two TrueLine XL5T-P line array systems and a pair of TL218SST-P subwoofers.
Reports Kell, “The WorxAudio system we deployed was for the main hall and as a result was used for larger gatherings. The two XL5T-Ps were flown on each side of the stage at a height of 20 feet using Genie towers. The distance between the left and right hangs was 50 feet. For low-frequency support, the two TL218SST-P subwoofers were positioned next to each other, directly in front of the stage.”
The XL5T-P is an all-in-one, compact line array system with five modules in a single enclosure. The XL5T-P utilizes dual 8-inch cone transducers with a large format, 3-inch compression driver and a 1.4-inch exit in each module. Power is supplied by WorxAudio’s PXD2580 power amplifers. The TL218SST-P high-SPL subwoofers feature two direct-radiating, 18-inch, 2,000W cone drivers in a tuned enclosure.
“Due to the wide nature of the room, the XL5T-P’s broad 160-degree horizontal dispersion pattern was the ideal fit,” Kell noted. “Before the event began, we plotted the room with EASE Focus. The XL5T-P hit the mark for not only the width of the room but the length and balcony area as well. The fact that these two all-in-one enclosures can provide such wide coverage and excellent throw is amazing!”
Kell was equally impressed with the compact nature of the XL5T-P line arrays. “Since the stage had to be struck in advance of Sunday’s service, the all-in-one design of the XL5T-P line array was a huge benefit,” he comments. “The XL5T-P enclosures came down quickly and were packed into their road cases and loaded into the truck in no time. There were no separate containers for each line array cabinet and no jumper cables to store—just one power line and one signal line. Teardown was very quick, and before we knew it, the stage was ready for Sunday service.”
