Wohler The Recipient Of Three Awards At The 2011 NAB Show

Wohler Technologies has announced that its Pandora loudness analyzer was chosen for a TV Technology STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award, and its AMP2-16V Series modular audio/video processing monitor and Presto video switcher both received Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit awards at the 2011 NAB Show.

“The fact that not just one, but three of our products were honored with top industry awards at the 2011 NAB Show is a true testament to Wohler’s commitment to innovation and the ingenuity of our engineering teams,” said Carl J. Dempsey, CEO and president of Wohler Technologies.

“Pandora gives users just the information they need to confirm loudness levels and maintain compliance with current broadcast standards, and Presto provides an ideal solution for making sense of the many video streams moving around a server-based facility.”

“And, as our flagship A/V processing system, the AMP2-16V is far more than a monitor — with robust metering, monitoring, mixing, and modular I/O options that deliver a complete audio management system. It’s our most versatile monitor ever and yet the easiest to use. Operators love it, and it’s quickly becoming the de facto standard.”

Presented by a panel of TV Technology editors and columnists, the STAR Awards celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations in the media industry.

Likewise, the Pick Hit awards, presented by Broadcast Engineering and selected by its panel of independent judges, are based on technical innovation and the financial improvements a product can bring to a facility’s operation.

Pandora is a compact and easy-to-read desktop or rack-mountable loudness analyzer and monitor with logging that can be employed at any point in the broadcast chain that requires simple, accurate loudness monitoring.

In helping broadcasters to address the demands of global loudness standards, Pandora provides a clear, accurate reading of loudness measurements for up to eight channels of audio information from an SDI stream or discrete AES inputs.

To provide an intuitive user interface, the system uses an iPod touch®; with a free software app that can be downloaded from the iTunes App StoreSM.

Wohler’s AMP2-16V is the industry’s first 16-channel audio and video monitor to feature simultaneous multiformat monitoring, quick program listen selection, loudness metering of the selected program, complete mixing and routing freedom, and features such as downmixing to provide excellent compatibility with external surround sound systems.

At the 2011 NAB Show, Wohler announced significant enhancements to this expandable platform, including easily customizable displays of SMPTE 2020 metadata, totally flexible channel phase monitoring, and the ability to store 32 complete system configurations for instant recall.

Major broadcasters worldwide have readily adopted it for its versatility, upgradeability, and ease of operation.

The Presto video switcher makes 16 3G/HD/SD-SDI video channels readily available for monitoring and straightforward switching via integrated OLED push-buttons.

A compact 1RU solution, Presto features 16 OLED screens, each of which serves as a switching button that displays the video stream from any source.
