“At Wizzard, we’ve used various systems over the years, eventually arriving at what we believe to be the best setup available for audio precision,” notes the East Syracuse, New York production company owner Jon Arrigo. With that, in May, Wizzard Sound took possession of a new RCF HDL50 system.
Immediately, the system got its first test with Alice in Chains. As the summer has progressed Wizzard has done shows with the Black Label Society, Dark Star Orchestra, Get The Led Out and Z.Z. Top, among others.
Arrigo turned to RCF because of the support they provide. The last two systems he had were good systems, but eventually through industry changes, the manufacturers could not support their product. His relationship with RCF dates back to 2014, and he knew the relationship and the support the company could provide.
Pointing to the history of RCF and their involvement in the touring industry, “When they came out with the HDL50 system, I played around with it to make sure it could meet the needs of the size shows I’m doing,” says Arrigo.
The Wizzard system is comprised of 24 HDL50-A active dual 12-inch three-way line array cabinets paired with 12 SUB9006-AS HDL50-A active dual 18-inch subwoofers. Over 90,000-watts of onboard power with a system achieving over 140 dB SPL.
“The boxes have a lot of really good qualities,” notes Arrigo. “We’re not having to do a lot of prep work,” which can be done with RCF’s onboard RDNet control and monitoring DSP. “Plus the boxes fly better, the design of carts are nice for transport and ease of deployment, the hardware design reduces out labor time…all in all a lot of good features in total system design.”
Wizzard Sound offers complete sound, lighting, staging and backline; as well as providing system design and installation for permanent integration projects ranging from theaters and performing arts centers to churches and schools.
