WFX Charlotte Announces Hands-On Technical Training In Audio, Video & Lighting For Churches

Popular classes provide attendees with unique interactive opportunities to experience latest technologies

Worship Facilities Conference & Expo (WFX) announces the lineup of Hands-on Tech Training at WFX Charlotte, scheduled to take place October 27-30, 2009 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Back by popular demand, Hands-on Tech Training will feature more opportunities to get up close and personal with the latest tech equipment. Attendees will hear from industry-leading audio, video and lighting experts and receive the tips and techniques they need to know to master their gear.

Hands-on Tech Training classes are made possible by generous donations from Yamaha Commercial Audio, Design 2020, Renewed Vision, Elation Lighting, A.C. Lighting, ETC, Vari*Lite, Audio Ethics, and Vivid Illumination.

Digital Mixers 101
Wednesday, October 28, 9:30am – 11:30am
Thursday, October 29, 8:30am – 10:00am
Friday, October 30, 8:30am – 10:00am

Digital Mixers 101 is designed for attendees who are thinking of “going digital” and wondering if those digital mixers are hard to learn. This workshop will give students a working overview of the digital mixing console using Yamaha’s M7CL consoles as the example. Students will also mix tracks as part of the session.

Lighting Fixtures Hands On

Lighting Fixtures Hands On is a discussion of the two most common types of lighting fixtures, the PAR Can and the Ellipsoidal, and possibly some of the uncommon fixtures as well. Taught with the novice in mind, this session will include fixture uses, tips and techniques, and basic maintenance. Participants will get a chance to experiment with and ask questions about each fixture as they are presented.

Audio Mix Class, Fundamentals

The Hands-on Audio Mix classes will walk attendees through the ins-and-outs of an audio mixing console. Armando Fullwood will share his insights and techniques to help participants understand a range of state-of-the-art Yamaha mixing consoles. This is a unique opportunity to learn the basics or hone existing skills.

Intro to Moving Light Programming

Intro to Moving Light Programming is designed for attendees who have wondered what is involved in programming moving lights. This class will discuss fixture patching and profiles, palettes, functions, cues, and playlists as well as demonstrate how they all work together to create a show. Although the class will be taught using a Jands Vista lighting console, the concepts are universal to most lighting controllers. Attendees are encouraged to bring their PC or Mac laptop and follow along using the Jands Vista computer application. Files will be provided on site or download and install the software in advance.

Audio for Live Television

This course will offer insights and hands-on applications for those who want to better understand live mixing for television and other media events. This is a can’t-miss opportunity to explore mixing techniques with state-of-the-art consoles from Yamaha.

Audio for Live Concert Recording

Audio for Live Concert Recording will discuss hands-on techniques, types of gear, and real-world solutions to make a multi-track recording of a concert application less of a painstaking journey. Attendees will learn how with state-of-the-art consoles from Yamaha.

Audio for Choir Mixing

This course is for those who can’t seem to get enough gain on the choir or a full choir sound. Audio for Choir Mixing will be an open and involved discussion of what it takes to get the choir sound over the band or orchestra. Attendees will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to learn how to mix with state-of-the-art consoles from Yamaha.
