VUE Audiotechnik Introduces VUEPoint Beam Steering Technology; Demos At InfoComm

Combines VUE's DSP integration with AFMG's FIRmaker technology

At next week’s InfoComm show in Orlando, VUE Audiotechnik will unveil VUEPoint, a new process for system optimization involving digital beam steering in line array applications.

Developed in partnership with Berlin-based AFMG Technologies, a leader in room modeling and analysis software, the VUEPoint process combines VUE’s DSP integration with AFMG’s FIRmaker technology to optimize line array performance in virtually any environment.

“Our objective with VUEPoint is to make beam steering more accessible than ever before,” states VUE CEO Ken Berger. “Most beam steering technologies are proprietary, and either limited in capabilities or prohibitively expensive. VUEPoint brings beam steering to virtually any line array application.

“We plan to make VUEPoint available for every line array from VUE, including our current al-4 system as well as a new model we’re unveiling at InfoComm.”

The VUEPoint process combines four cutting-edge technologies into a unified workflow. Beginning with the high-resolution GLL data and basic room dimensions, EASE Focus 2 software is used to generate a detailed model of output and coverage within the given venue.

From there, the FIRmaker algorithm builds customized FIR filters to optimize coverage. In the final step, SytemVUE software implements the new FIR filters at the DSP level, significantly improving both coverage and spectral consistency.

“Every powered VUE system was designed from the ground up to tightly integrate transducers, DSP, amplification and advanced networking capabilities,” Berger explains. “This enables unprecedented usability and control, which in turn allows us to bring advanced technologies like FIRmaker to market much more expediently. We are tremendously excited to bring beam steering out of the fringe and into the mainstream.”

The VUEPoint process can be applied to any VUE DSP-enabled line array system for virtually any application or environment. VUE is also exploring the potential of VUEPoint beyond line arrays alone, and plans to offer future system optimization solutions based on the FIRMaker technology.
