Universal Audio Releases Volt 476P & Volt 4 USB Audio Interfaces

Both models offer 4-in/4-out audio connections with onboard tone shaping, 48-volt phantom power, direct monitoring, a suite of audio software, and iPad/iPhone connectivity.

Universal Audio (UA) has announced the introduction of Volt 476P and Volt 4, two new USB audio interfaces offering 4-in/4-out audio connections with onboard tone shaping, 48-volt phantom power, direct monitoring, a suite of audio software, and iPad/iPhone connectivity.

The Volt 476P is UA’s first Volt model to feature four analog preamps offering 24-bit/192 kHz audio conversion, joined by 76 compressor and Vintage Mic Preamp modes on every input channel. With expanded outputs for headphones, speakers, and outboard gear, Volt 476P has rugged metal construction and retro wood sides. MSRP is $469.

Meanwhile, with 4-in/4-out audio connections, including dual analog mic preamps with Vintage Mic Preamp mode, Volt 4 is a portable interface. It’s two analog preamps provide 24-bit/192 kHz audio conversion. MSRP is $239.

The new models 4 expand UA’s line of USB recording interfaces, which also includee additional 1 and 2‑input models with iOS compatibility. All Volt interfaces offer Vintage Mic Preamp mode, inspired by the mic/line preamp in UA’s 610 tube console. Proprietary tube emulation circuitry is designed to allow users to dial in rich, full sound on vocals and instruments.

Volt 76 models also have a built‑in 76 compressor, an analog circuit is based on UA’s 1176, as well as presets for adding clarity and punch to voice, guitar, and other sources. Along with an included suite of audio software including Ableton, Melodyne, UJAM’s Virtual Drummer, Marshall, Ampeg, and more, all Volts include a special 30-day free trial to UAD Spark — UA’s subscription plug-in service.
