Historic Drexelbrook Multipurpose Facility Upgrades With Community CLOUD Loudspeakers

More than 60 Community CLOUD6 ceiling loudspeakers specified and installed by Aston, PA-based Toner Sound

An event in progress at the Drexelbrook Corporate Events Center, served by a new system featuring Community CLOUD ceiling loudspeakers

For nearly six decades, Drexelbrook has been a first-call gathering spot for events large and small in the tri-state area. Its historic Georgian style mansion and Grand Ballroom have been the backdrop for countless weddings, proms, trade shows and corporate retreats. The iconic TV series American Bandstand even filmed some of its earliest episodes there.

Drexelbrook’s 15,000-square-foot Corporate Events Center, opened in 2000, is the largest facility of its kind in the region, and offers state-of-the-art audio and video systems including an elaborate distributed sound system using Community CLOUD6 ceiling loudspeakers.

As Brian Latocha of Aston, PA-based Toner Sound explains, the CLOUD loudspeakers were part of a major redesign of the venue’s sound system.

“The old system was underpowered to begin with, and with the room’s 25-foot ceilings, it had been pushed to its limits for years, and was showing signs of age,” Latocha says. “We installed a distributed system of 60 CLOUD6 loudspeakers, powered by three Crown CTS-Series amps, and the new system can easily reach up to 95 or 100 dB for larger corporate events.” Lectrosonics DSP covers room combining tasks.

Despite the complexity of the job, “The biggest challenge was scheduling the job around Drexelbrook’s packed events calendar,” Latocha says. “Community gives you everything you need for a smooth install, right in the box. We completed the entire project in three days.”

“The new audio system enhances our impressive list of amenities we offer to our corporate, association and private markets,” remarks Drexelbrook CEO and General Manager Domenick Savino. “The sound clarity is quite noticeable, and the first clients to use the system offered many positive comments. Simply having them ask ‘Did you get a new sound system?’ in itself justifies the investment. And Toner Sound did a great job installing the system.”
