The Pro Audio Files Launches Mixing With Compression Video Tutorial

Mix engineer Matthew Weiss teaches how to use compression to control and manipulate tone, shape and dynamics

The Pro Audio Files has just released the follow-up tutorial to Mixing Hip-Hop by launching Mixing with Compression.

The Pro Audio Files founder, Dan Comerchero, keeps a close eye on the most discussed topics in his community, and has found that many musicians, engineers and producers are seeking advice when it comes to truly understanding how to hear and use compression.

Comerchero teamed up again with author and noted mix engineer Matthew Weiss to release an in-depth tutorial on compression. Weiss is an expert in his field, having worked for over 10 years with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Jean Grae, Gorilla Zoe, Arrested Development, Dizzee Rascal, Gift of Gab, J-Son, Jean Grae and many more.

Mixing with Compression is a over 90 minutes long, divided into 12 segments, and takes the viewer step-by-step to better results.

In the video, Weiss takes the mystery out of compression and teaches you what it is, what it sounds like, how to use it, and how it will take your mixes to the next level.

Professional engineers and mixers will benefit from the clarity and efficiency of the process Weiss lays out. Beginners and intermediate mixers will find the tutorial accessible, while also learning advanced techniques and critical listening skills.

Emmy Award-winning video editor and audio engineer Bill Cammack states: “Matthew’s tutorials are always clear and informative. He gives in-depth explanations of his thought processes behind why he uses particular techniques, which is very useful and applicable to mixers of all skill level.”
