The Music People has announced the introduction of the new On-Stage DB100 laptop DI box that’s designed to eliminate the noise and ground loops that can occur when interfacing consumer audio devices with professional audio components.

Users can connect the DB100’s 3.5-mm plug into the headphone jack of laptops and digital music players, where it converts the audio signal to a balanced, mic-level XLR output suitable for use with high-powered PA systems.

A volume knob enables additional adjustment of the output level while a ground-lift switch provides control over hum caused by ground loops. Passive and transformer-based, the DB100 doesn’t use a power supply.

“There are few things more disruptive to a live performance than hum and unwanted noises caused by using an audio device with a PA,” says Christopher Roberts, On-Stage product line manager. “The new DB100 DI Box completely eliminates this threat for a worry-free performance.”

DB100 specs:
• Input to Output: Stereo to mono
• Input Attenuation: 20 dB
• Input Impedance: 47 kΩ / 1 kHz
• Output Impedance: 53 kΩ / 1 kHz
• Frequency: 20 Hz–20 kHz
• Distortion: 0.008%
• Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 87 dB
• Dimensions: 4.7 (L) x 1.6 (W) x 1.3 (H) inches
• Cable Length: 10 feet
