TC Electronic has announced the new PEQ 3000 and DYN 3000, two plugins designed to offer the tone and feel of a Midas Heritage console channel strip. In addition, the company has introduced new optional USB-powered desktop controllers designed to provide added control and tactile feedback to the software workflow.
Both new plugins were engineered in collaboration with Midas. PEQ 3000 offers 12-bands of fully parametric EQ and a selection of filter shapes, designed to provide sounds that are nearly indistinguishable from the equalization circuits on the Midas Heritage 3000 console.
PEQ-3000 can operate in Mono, Stereo, Midi/Side and Left/Right configurations and also offers Phase Shifting options intended to bring out more original instrument sound and energy in a multi-microphone setup. A constant-Q real-time analyzer allows users to view the impact of the EQ in real time.
DYN 3000 is designed to provide the tone and feel of the dynamics processors from the Midas XL8 and PRO Series consoles, offering four content-dedicated compressor types and three gate types, It also has the proprietary Midas “presence” control for adding some “subtle air” to compressed signals.
In addition, it comes with built-in upward, parallel, and sidechain compression as well as several musical sidechain filter options, audition-function and real-time displays. The Static Gain Response and Scrolling History provide a constant overview, even when the DAW is focused on another part of the mix.
The optional USB-powered hardware controllers (shown directly below) are designed to look and feel like the dynamics and equalization sections on a Midas console, with HD color displays and “analog-feel” potentiometers. The displays show all the parameters from the plugins, so users can view and change settings without opening the plug-in window on their computer.
Both DYN 3000 and PEQ 3000 also include custom-built signature presets developed by noted producers and engineers as well as complementary settings tailored by TC Electronic’s engineering team. They’re compatible with all major DAWs (Standard VST, Audio Units, and AAX-Native plugin processing on Mac and Windows PC) and deliver support for standard DAW automation and project recall.
