TASCAM Introduces DR-100mkIII Handheld Digital Stereo Recorder

Offers recordings up to 192kHz/24-bit resolution, a 109dB S/N ratio, HDDA microphone preamps, and support for SDXC cards up to 128GB.

TASCAM announces the introduction of the new DR-100mkIII handheld digital stereo recorder.

Designed to meet the demands of today’s audio professionals, the newest generation of TASCAM’s flagship handheld digital stereo recorder delivers clear, high resolution recordings up to 192kHz/24-bit resolution, with a 109dB S/N ratio.

The unit offers precise, temperature-compensated clocking and high-performance dual-mono AKM “Velvet Sound” converters combined with HDDA microphone preamps, coupled with support for SDXC cards up to 128GB.

“As high-resolution recordings have grown in popularity, audio professionals are demanding higher sample rates and better performance,” remarked Jeff Laity, TASCAM director of Product Marketing. “The DR-100 series has always been the handheld recorder of choice for serious location recording and sound design, and we knew we’d have to do a lot to improve upon that. We haven’t just added features – we’ve created an even more powerful, high-precision professional recording tool.”

The DR-100mkIII is designed with dual stereo mics in both AB and omnidirectional patterns for versatility, two XLR/combo jacks, switchable phantom power, and a dedicated input level control. And the DR-100mkIII’s dual battery technology utilizes a built-in Li-ion rechargeable as well as AA batteries, giving you extended recording times and the ability to change batteries on the fly.

“As primarily acoustic players, we’re very focused on the quality of our live recordings,” observes Geoff Hazelrigg of The Hazelrigg Brothers. “We’ve tried a number of recording devices over the years, but none have delivered the space, airiness, and sonic clarity of the DR-100mkIII.”

Built for real world use, the DR-100mkIII features TASCAM’s exclusive Dual Recording Mode, which simultaneously captures a lower level safety track, to safeguard against unexpected source level spikes. And the DR-100mkIII sports TASCAM’s durability as well, built on a rugged black aluminum chassis that’s road-worthy enough for the most hardcore location duties.

The new TASCAM DR-100mkIII is available now at a street price of $399.99.
