SurgeX Introducing New Squid Power Management Device At ISE 2020

Offers boxed network control, remote monitoring, and power protection in a single compact chassis.
New SurgeX Squid is available in three models -- (2) 12-volt, (2) 24-volt, and a combination of the two.

SurgeX is introducing the new Squid power management platform at the ISE 2020 show this week in Amsterdam (SurgeX booth 1-F60).

Squid combines multiple features, including boxed networked control and analytics of AC and DC, front-end protection with patented Multi-Stage surge suppression technology, as well as monitoring and management capabilities. It includes two 5-volt USB ports inputs for charging and network troubleshooting, eight outputs, four of which are traditional controlled and monitored IEC receptacles, and four that are DC to eliminate the need for wall warts or a two-box solution. By using a relay-based system, the AC and DC ports can be controlled, the device can be monitored, and it can also be integrated into third-party control systems.

Available in three models for (2) 12-volt, (2) 24-volt, and a combination of the two, they can be mounted in the rack, behind a flat panel, under a table, or integrated into a table hatch. With built-in autosensing, Squid is also the first SurgeX product with universal compatibility with 120 to 240 volts.

In addition, it offers SurgeX Axess ELITE capabilities such as sequencing, scheduling, auto-ping, IP Control, monitoring, and management. Built-in diagnostic monitoring, similar to the SurgeX enVision, provides a single solution for management, mitigation and control of the system’s power.

Squid measures electrical parameters, including voltage, current, power, frequency, power factor, and crest factor, and provides time-stamped power quality events, as well as an internal storage of 30 days’ worth of max/min/average electrical parameters. It meets high security standards, with support for all leading network security protocols including 802.1x authentication and active directory.

“SurgeX equipment is the choice for integrators looking for a reliable power foundation to support their installations,” says Lauren Simmen, director of marketing for SurgeX. “Our conditioning, diagnostic, and surge suppression devices support a range of AV installations. As the market has changed and we see a growing number of smaller huddle and flex spaces being built, we saw the need to develop a product to ease the most common problems in this space. We created Squid as the single solution for both AC and DC in the same chassis with the added benefits of front-end protection, filtration, and SurgeX patented multi-stage surge suppression technology.

“Integrators can choose Squid to eliminate problematic wall warts and faulty power strips, streamline installations, reduce service calls, and to give them the confidence that their customers can meet quickly, easily, and without disruption from anywhere in the world.”

Squid will be available in March 2020.
