Studio Haifax Deploys CODA Audio For Socially Distanced Concerts At Pop-Up Theatre In Belgium

Production company supports 30 concerts in July with ViRAY system to cover entire 7,000-square-meter auditorium hosting audiences of 200.

The Studio 100 Pop-Up Theatre in Puurs, Belgium, a temporary show venue with seating for about 2,000 that regularly plays host to live musical performances, hosted 30 concerts in July using social distancing guidelines for audiences of 200 with sound reinforcement provided by a CODA Audio ViRAY system supplied by Studio Haifax (based in Ternat, Belgium).

During lockdown, with no prospect of the major shows returning, Studio 100 worked with artist management and booking company House of Entertainment to devise a program of concerts that could effectively utilize the space while observing social distancing measures.

Labeling the events ‘The Living Room Concerts’, House of Entertainment brought in a range of popular artists to perform, and while the audience size was limited, it was still essential for the audio system to cover the entire 7,000-square-meter space.

Studio Haifax employed 22 CODA ViRAY modules four APS, four more G308 24 SCV-F subwoofers in a cardioid-arc. In spite of the unusual circumstances, the concerts proved to be popular and the visiting sound engineers working on behalf of a wide spectrum of acts experssesd satisfaction with the outcome.

“Whilst the timescale for a return to normal in the live performance sector remains uncertain, events such as the ‘Living Room Concerts’ continue to demonstrate the creativity and determination of the industry to overcome, in whatever ways possible, the constraints of the pandemic,” states CODA Audio director of global marketing David Webster. “We’re pleased to hear that our versatile systems are front and centre in these efforts to reconnect artists and audiences.”
