SoundGirls.Org’s vision is to inspire and empower young women and girls who want to enter the world of professional audio and music production. SoundGirls provides educational resources, internships and support—and most importantly, we provide role models and confidence.
SoundGirls.Org Live Sound Camp for Girls is a one-week program for youth who want to learn about live music and event production. The camp curriculum teaches the skills and technology to run a live show – the girls learn everything from wrapping cables to running a mixing board in a safe environment with inspiring mentors. At the end of the week, the girls show off what they’ve learned by running a live concert, from load-in to load-out.
This summer, SoundGirls is planning to teach camps in five cities across the United States. In order to accomplish this goal, we need to raise $18,000. Your donation towards this amount will help to cover the cost of the following at each camp:
25 handbooks: “Girls Guide to Doing Sound” ($250)
25 SoundGirls.Org T-Shirt ($250)
Background Checks for Volunteers ($10/each)
Equipment and Venue Rentals ($500-$1,000)
Advertising for the Live Sound Camp ($200)
Travel and accommodations ($1,000)
Insurance ($500)
Any money raised over the goal will go towards programming for members at all stages in their careers, including grants for continuing education and funding for SoundGirls-sponsored workshops and classes.
One of our goals at SoundGirls is reaching girls in under-served communities. The SoundGirls.Org Live Sound Camp for Girls helps to empower these young women by giving them hands-on training, access to technology, life skills, and the power to believe in themselves.
In keeping with this goal, SoundGirls provides need-based scholarships to as many students as we are able to accommodate based on our level of funding. Last year, over 70% of the students attended with some level of financial assistance. ore art, music and sound in a safe environment. SoundGirls is introducing girls and young women to behind-the-scenes careers in music production, connecting a passion for music with technical skills that can be used in a wide range of scientific and arts-based fields.
You’ve heard that “It Takes a Village” – and in fact, it does. SoundGirls very much relies on your generous donations, as well as sponsorship from the entertainment industry and beyond. Anyone can help. The ultimate goal is $18,000, and all donations are tax-deductible.
Donation levels and rewards range from $10 to $3,000 and include everything from rare music memorabilia to sound equipment. For $200, you can sponsor a scholarship, and for $3,000, you can sponsor an entire camp, giving 30 youngsters the opportunity to attend camp and giving SoundGirls the opportunity to bring the program to a new area.
