Signal To Noise, Episode 64: Ryan O John Talks Mixing Drums & Bass

ProSoundWeb

In Episode 64, front of house engineer Ryan O John joins the hosts again to talk about his approach to mixing drums and bass. Ryan’s mixed a wide range of artists such as Pussycat Dolls, Jessie J, Phillip Phillips, and many others, and he’s currently the principiple product designer and manager of live sound at Avid.

The Signal To Noise podcast is sponsored by Audix.

Ryan also revisits a fun program he’s stated called “Mix 45,” where a group of engineers record themselves starting from a blank desk and mix the same song in 45 minutes. It’s a good test of how well you know your workflow, console, and mixing philosophy.
