Welcome to ProSoundWeb’s coverage of Prolight + Sound & Musikmesse 2016 in Germany at the sprawling Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre, which presents the latest products from the worlds of event technology and musical instruments.
Preliminary figures show a reported count of more than 2,000 (2,043 to be exact) exhibitors from 60 countries on hand this year covering an exhibition facility which literally required shuttle buses to reach every vendor and display. Official attendance was almost 110,000 visitors (compared to 108,409 last year) from about 130 countries.
From the latest and greatest in every imaginable aspect of audio, video and lighting production to the professional concert performances to the educational presentations, I can honesty say that I’ve never experienced anything on this scale. Every time I felt like I had seen everything there was, another hall with a completely different theme appeared magically.
Overall, it was right on the edge of overwhelming. The logistical aspect of coordinating an event on this scale was equally impressive as the actual event itself.
