At the NAMM 2021 Believe in Music week virtual event this week, Sensaphonics has announced the introduction of 3DME Custom Tour, its next-generation Active Ambient in-ear monitor system that adds the isolation of custom-fit, soft silicone earphones to the signal processing technology of the ASI Audio x Sensaphonics 3DME Music Enhancement system.

The custom-fit, dual-driver earphones are designed to provide a balanced, neutral sound that can be tuned to personal preference via its Bluetooth control of the system’s app.

“By adding custom-fit earphones to all the technical capabilities of the 3DME system, we’ve created the most sophisticated, tour-ready IEM system on the market,” notes Sensaphonics President, Dr. Michael Santucci. “It delivers incredible sound in the safest possible way, all under user control.”

The 3DME Custom Tour system employs patented Active Ambient technology, using MEMS microphones embedded in the IEMs to capture room sound with full 3D directionality. The ambient sound is added to the monitor feed via the system’s compact, USB-rechargeable bodypack mixer, at levels fully controlled by the user. This allows the artist to hear the stage and audience with both earpieces safely in place.

The bodypack also houses signal processing, including a 7-band stereo graphic equalizer (EQ) and limiter, and has a battery life of 8 hours. Setup and control are handled via Bluetooth control of the system’s free app.

The ASI Audio app provides control of 3DME signal processing via a Bluetooth connection, compatible with both iOS and Android devices. With the app, the user can use their personal device to adjust the EQ, set the limiter threshold for safety, and save preferred settings to a library for future recall. Left and right channels can be joined in stereo, or adjusted separately. The app also enables additional 3DME functions like the Audio Seal Test to ensure proper fit, and one-click conversion to CROS operation for those with full unilateral hearing loss.

“3DME Custom Tour is a ground-breaking system, with upgraded capabilities that artists and engineers will love and delivering the very latest in Active Ambient technology at an amazing price,” says Santucci. “With live shows hopefully returning in the coming months, we’re excited to offer this all-new pro version of 3DME.”

The 3DME Custom Tour IEM system includes dual-driver, custom-fit Active Ambient earphones in soft silicone, plus a full ASI Audio x Sensaphonics 3DME Music Enhancement system with rechargeable bodypack mixer, plus (for use as spare/demo) a pair of universal-fit 3DME ambient earphones. It’s priced at $2,000 U.S. MSRP and will begin shipping during Q1 of 2021. Sensaphonics is accepting advance orders at NAMM.
