Samson Unveils AirLine 88 Wind Instrument UHF Wireless System

Frequency-agile system specified with an operating range of up to 300 feet designed for saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and other wind instruments

Samson Technologies has introduced the AirLine 88 Wind Instrument wireless system, a frequency-agile UHF system specified with an operating range of up to 300 feet that is designed for saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and other wind instruments. It is on display at the NAMM show this week in Anaheim, Booth 6900, Hall A.

The AirLine 88 Wind Instrument system is supplied with a clip-on transmitter that includes a shock-mounted microphone and adjustable gooseneck. The transmitter provides infrared sync to match the receiver and transmitter frequency, and it also includes gain and mute controls, a battery life LED indicator, and an 8-hour rechargeable lithium ion battery.

The transmitter is designed to clip directly to an instrument’s bell with no beltpack or cable necessary. The 8.5-inch gooseneck facilitates optimal microphone placement. The condenser mic capsule has a supercardioid pickup pattern that is specified to handle up to 130 dB SPL.

Offering frequency-agile operation, the system’s rack-mountable CR88 receiver provides 16 selectable channels across 24 MHz bandwidth. Up to eight simultaneous systems per frequency band can be used (region dependent). A True Diversity design helps minimize dropouts, while tone key technology prevents unwanted noise when the transmitter is off or out of range.

The new AirLine 88 Wind Instrument system is expected to be available in July 2017 at a price of $399.99.
