RCF Supports St. Jude’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon In Nashville

Lonely Dog Productions deploys HDL10-A loudspeakers and SUB8006-AS subwoofers for 30,000 runners, wheelchairs and walkers.

RCF was front and center at the 2016 St. Jude’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon running through the streets of Nashville.

Gallatin, Tennessee-based Lonely Dog Productions got the runners off providing sound reinforcement at the beginning leg of the marathon.

What started as a simple idea in 1998 – “a marathon with bands along the course celebrating each participant” – soon transformed into 30,000 runners, wheelchairs and walkers through 28 miles on the streets of Music City.

The main stage for the Lonely Dog set up included four HDL10-A ground stacked on top of one SUB8006-AS subwoofer per side. For on stage monitoring, Lonely Dog used four ST12-SMA active monitors, with one ST12-SMA couples with one SUB705-AS 15” subwoofer for the drummer position.

The second stage included a stereo configuration of two HDL10-A line arrays pole mounted on top of a SUB8006-AS subwoofer.

With strong winds and heavy rain in the forecast, event coordinators still required that music play continuously for the runners even if bands couldn’t perform due to the weather. Lonely Dog’s tech team needed to design a simple plug-and-play “rain or shine” system for the event with load in at 2 a.m. race morning, sound check at 5 a.m. and music starting at 6 a.m. The ability to pre-wire the HDL10 system equipped with rain shields, they were able to accomplish that task. No unsightly tarps needs, and the both stages continued along their own Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon journey.
