RCF Announces Scalable DXT 9000 Voice Alarm System

RCF has announced the launch of the DXT 9000 – a digital voice-alarm system with the brains of network technology and the soul of professional audio.

The system can be viewed at ISE 2013 in Amsterdam, where RCF will be demonstrating it at booth 7H230 showing the DXT 9000 system’s capabilities in real-world applications.

“From the word go, our goal was to design a voice-evacuation system that offered all the benefits of modern network technology: scalability, ease of configuration, reliability, and full compliance with EN 54-16 standard,” explains Antonio Ferrari, RCF’s Market Manager, Audio Contractor. “In the future we plan to introduce several new EN 54-24 speaker models which will represent the innovative philosophy of RCF and provide installers with a complete audio solution.”

A completely scalable solution, the DXT 9000 voice-evacuation system is versatile enough for most applications, from small school and hotels to large, multi-building campuses.

Every component in the distributed system, including the loudspeakers, has its own physical address and can be monitored according to the latest EN 54 standards. It also can be configured after installation where necessary.

While paging and voice-evacuation are the primary uses for the DXT 9000, it can also be used to interface pro-audio active speakers through RCF’s RD-NET control and monitoring system.

Active loudspeakers can be combined together with 70V/100V line amplifiers on the same dedicated network. System amplification is Class D+, which is unique to RCF, and promises industrial-grade reliability along with high efficiency and audio quality within a small installation footprint.

For maximum flexibility, the DXT 9000 boasts a double-ring topology. The first, simple ring is designed for small and medium-sized systems, while the second ring is for larger projects. Whatever the size of the system, all components are designed to be plug-and-play and setup is easily configurable.

All digital amplifiers and active components are connected using RCF’s unique Flexicomm bus technology which ensures the most efficient use of available network bandwidth.

For ease of installation, the majority of connections use twin-pair or four-pair J-Type fire-rated cable, while fiber-optics can also be used for longer distances, where the DXT 9000 can run over LAN or TCP/IP networks.

In the event of a failure in the input stage of the digital network, a ‘Fall Back’ feature automatically allows the DXT 9000 to receive a signal from a dedicated fire base-station microphone, ensuring that the safety of the protected facility is never compromised.

“The RCF Engineering Support Group is always available to support consultants and contractors to find together the best possible solution according to the requirements and constraints,” adds Ferrari. “We believe we have achieved a VA system that benefits from a pro-audio approach, and which offers sonic performance that is more akin to that of a pro-audio setup, rather than a 100V line system”.

“The DXT 9000 has come about not just through a passion for public safety and security, but through a passion for sound.”

The range of components available is already extensive and includes: a choice of two master units, MX 9500 and MU 9186 (the former with amplification built in, the latter without amps), three monitored Class D+ digital power amplifiers (1 x 500W, 2 x 250W, or 4 x 125W), three paging mics (multi-zone, selective call and 8-zone extension) and the TS 9918 remote level control and program selector.
