Rational Acoustics Releases Smaart v 7.1.0: First Major Version Update To The Smaart 7 Platform

Complete overhaul of Smaart's data handling system

Rational Acoustics has released Smaart v 7.1.0, which represents the first major version update to the Smaart 7 measurement platform. The update features a complete overhaul of Smaart’s data handling system.

The new data handling paradigm offers a new look, feel and function for data registration; an information dialog field for complete data capture information and trace control; easier intuitive data trace averaging dialog; “select and delete” functionality for data deletion; and session to session data capture which stores data on shutdown and restores it on start-up.

Some of the improvements to the data register look, feel and function include trace registers created on capture, auto naming for captures and easy to create trace folders for data organization. The new “capture all” function captures data traces for all active measurements, creates a folder for them and uses live measurement colors for the newly captured traces. Drag and drop capability allows users to re-order and re-organize traces and folder in the list with ease.

The software update also includes enhanced live/static trace averaging, improved session to session operational consistency, improved SPL measurement and enhanced delay measurement functionality.

Rational Acoustics provides a 30-day v7.1 demo for download on their website. There is also an updated “Getting Started with Smaart v.7” applications guide on the website that covers the new features of v.7.1.

NEW IN v.7.1
New Data Handling Paradigm:
—New data register look, feel & function
—Trace registers now created on capture (no more empty slots)
—Auto naming for captures (user can override/rename)
—Trace folders can be created for data organization
—Capture All function captures data traces for all active measurements
—Creates a folder for those traces
—Uses live measurement colors for the captured traces
—Drag n drop to re-order/re-organize traces & folders in list

New Info dialog provides complete data capture info / trace control, including:
—Trace color, inversion and dB offset adjust
—User comment field
—Enhanced Save/Load and Copy to ASCII functions
—Easier, intuitive data trace averaging dialog
—Data can be deleted through simple “select and delete” functionality
—Data register now persistent from session to session – captured data is now stored on shutdown and restored on start-up

Enhanced Live/Static Trace Averaging:
—Coherence-weighted averaging option for static/live Transfer Function traces
—dB or power averaging option for static/live Spectrum traces

Improved Session to Session Operational Consistency:
—Active measurement group now remembered on shut-down
—Graph states now stored on shutdown and restored on start-up

Improved SPL measurement:
—Min/Max SPL added to LEQ logging
—Improved/streamlined the SPL calibration process
—Option added to Plot Calibrated Levels for spectrum plots

Enhanced Delay Measurement Functionality:
—Log & ETC views added to Live IR (Impulse Response) graph
—Delta delay (measured delay – current delay setting) added to delay finder dialog

And The Rest (Further Additions):
—Machine ID added to About (program info) screen
—dB offset column added to Group Manager overview tables
—“Clear All dB offsets” button added to Group Manager
—Weighting curve name added to trace info on graph (where applicable)
—Peak to Delay button added to Impulse Analysis mode
