Radial Introduces J+4 High-Performance Stereo Balance Line Driver

The new Radial Engineering J+4 is a high-performance line driver designed to take -10 dB consumer devices and amplify them so that they can easily integrate with professional level +4 dB devices.

According to Radial President Peter Janis, “The Radial J+4 is the first product that was developed by our ‘Texas Team. Kevin Burgen and Drake Williams both came to us after spending many years working directly under the eye of industry icon Rupert Neve.

“Kevin played a key role in developing the circuits for many of Mr. Neve’s later designs while Drake managed all of the PCB and mechanical layouts. I must tell you that I was astounded when I first plugged it in. The J+4 is so quiet, I did not know it was on. When I hit ‘play’ on the CD player I was literally blown away.”

The Radial J+4 is equipped with choice of stereo quarter-inch, RCA and 3.5mm mini TRS connector inputs. The 100 percent discreet electronic design delivers audio with greater than +17 dB of gain while transformer isolation eliminates buzz and hum caused by ground loops.

A high pass filter reduces low frequency rumble. Outputs are XLR, following the AES pin-out standard.

Power is supplied from an external 15V DC supply and up to eight units may be brought together and rack mounted using the Radial J-Rak.

As with all Radial products, the J+4 is made from 14 gauge steel and employs a unique I-Beam internal skeleton for added rigidity. This eliminates stress on the PC board and greatly reduces chance for solder joints to go cold.

Switches and level control are protected by the unique book-end design further extending lifespan and the full-bottom no-slip pad ensures the J+4 will stay put, wherever it is assigned to do its task.

The new J+4 will be available in January, 2010, with a retail price of $220 and an anticipated street price of $199.99. (Pricing is USD)
