QSC Unveils New GXD Series Processing Power Amplifiers

Class-D devices for high power output in a light weight chassis design, offering extensive loudspeaker processing capability

QSC has unveiled the GXD Series of amplifiers, providing power, performance and reliability coupled with the convenience of onboard digital signal processing.

Housed in a 2U rack-mount configuration, GXD Series amplifiers are class-D devices for high power output in a light weight chassis design. They offer extensive loudspeaker processing capability to help users optimize and get the most from their loudspeaker systems.

DSP includes high- and low-pass filters (24 dB LR), 4-band parametric equalizer, signal alignment delay, and RMS/peak loudspeaker protection limiting. Twenty (20) preset “starting points” for select systems are also provided.

A digital limiter prevents destructive clipping that can damage loudspeaker components while still delivering the maximum usable output. Smart protection is set by selecting the loudspeaker’s continuous power and impedance (4 ohms and 8 ohms), and then selecting a mild, medium or aggressive protection mode.

“All of the hallmarks of the QSC brand—superior audio performance, outstanding engineering and best in class quality—are found on the new GXD amps,” states Dale Sandberg, QSC senior product manager, power amplifiers. “Customers will be sure to find the combination of power, advanced, yet easy-to-use DSP, form factor and legendary QSC reliability a compelling package.”

GXD Series front panels include a power switch, four status indicators, and a large LCD screen that provides metering and status monitoring. When combined with the two rotary encoders and three menu buttons, users are provided with complete amplifier control, allowing parameter selection and adjustment of amplifier gain and DSP parameters.

Rear panels include XLR and 1/4-inch TRS inputs, NL4 and binding post outputs, and an AC power inlet.

Model GXD 4 delivers 400 watts per channel at 8 ohms (600 watts per channel at 4 ohms), and max total peak power of 1,600 watts. Model GXD 8 provides 800 watts per channel at 8 ohms (1,200 watts per channel at 4 ohms), and max total peak power of 4,500 watts.

The GXD 4 has a list price of $599.99 while the GXD 8 has a list price of $999.99. Both models will be available in January 2015.
