At the 2016 NAMM Show in Anaheim, PreSonus unveiled its new StudioLive AVB mix systems, which combine one or two StudioLive RM-series rack mixers, a StudioLive CS18AI Ethernet/AVB control surface, and integrated control, recording, and production software.
Scalable, recallable, networked over AVB Ethernet, and tightly integrated with included software, the StudioLive AVB Mix Systems puts I/O in an onstage, rack-mount mixing system with an integrated recording interface, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet networking.
Also provided is a control surface at front-of-house with 18 touch-sensitive, motorized faders and 4×2 I/O.
Four systems are available:
—StudioLive AVB 16AI with one StudioLive RM16AI mixer
—StudioLive AVB 32AI with one StudioLive RM32AI mixer
—StudioLive AVB 48AI with one of each RM model, cascaded to form a 48-input, 64-channel system
—StudioLive AVB 64AI with two cascaded StudioLive RM32AIs for a 64-input system
There’s also the option to start with a single-mixer AVB Mix System and expand it later by cascading a second RM-series mixer. Both mixers in a cascaded AVB mix system can be controlled from the StudioLive CS18AI and from UC Surface touch-control software.
Equipped with 100 mm, touch-sensitive, motorized faders and AVB networking, the StudioLive CS18AI control surface provides a compact mixing solution for StudioLive RM32AI rack-mount digital mixers and for the Studio One 3 digital audio workstation, which is included with all AVB mix systems. The CS18AI and RM mixers connect to the network with Cat-5e or Cat-6 Ethernet cable, eliminating the need fo analog or digital snakes and stage boxes.
StudioLive AVB 64AI mix systems are tightly integrated with a suite of software, including UC Surface mix-control software for Mac, Windows, and iPad; QMix-AI monitor-mix control app for iPhone/iPod touch; Capture live recording software; and Studio One Artist.
An associated firmware update for RM-series mixers adds a new Stage Box mode that fosters the use of StudioLive RM-series mixers as simple I/O devices in conjunction with StudioLive AI-series consoles. Simultaneous updates to the StudioLive CS18AI and Capture 2 recording software add remote control of Capture from a CS18AI and UC Surface to provide control of virtual soundcheck, transport, and record arm; drop markers; and check record times from anywhere in the venue.
The updates also provide advanced networking features, performance improvements and bug fixes for StudioLive AI consoles, RM-series mixers, CS18AI, UC Surface, and Capture.
