PK Sound Launches Trinity Black Robotic Line Source Element

Distinguished by a new all-black aesthetic and loaded with revamped v4 presets designed to offer acoustic enhancements over previous iterations.

PK Sound has announced the introduction of Trinity Black, the latest generation of the company’s robotically controlled line source element that’s distinguished by a new all-black aesthetic and is loaded with revamped v4 presets designed to offer acoustic enhancements over previous iterations.

Trinity Black systems work in tandem with the new PK Cell touring rack and upcoming .dynamics software platform for optimized performance. They are exclusively available in North America and Europe to members of the PK Alliance network.

“Over the past year-and-a-half, we’ve developed a modular, scalable, and globally standardized core system offering spearheaded by Trinity Black to cover the widest array of applications with the fewest products possible,” says Jeremy Bridge, CEO of PK Sound. “Our focus on converging technologies allows us to continue developing and augmenting performance – even after systems are in the field.”

Trinity Black has stated SPL of up to 149.3 dB, with output controlled with variable coverage in both the vertical and horizontal planes, allowing system operators added flexibility in making coverage adjustments after the array is flown. Directivity can be better tailored to meet the architectural design of the venue or space using industrial linear actuators with a stated duty cycle of up to 109 years.

The patented Coherent Midrange Integrator (CMI) waveguide combines mid and high frequencies, coupled with low frequency apertures for smooth and controlled directivity. It offers variable adjustability from 50 to 120 degrees both symmetrically and asymmetrically for more precisely tapered arrays that can expand stereo imaging as well as help avoid challenging obstacles and reduce noise pollution. Meanwhile, vertical angles are set and adjusted remotely with 0.1-degree accuracy.

Horn-loaded 12-inch transducers handle low-frequency response. The mid-frequency band is supported by four 6.5-inch midrange transducers affixed to the CMI waveguide. Two dual-diaphragm high frequency transducers, coupled directly to an integrated planar waveguide, are designed to reduce distortion across the high frequency band. Components are driven by a class D amplifier stated to provide up to 6,000 watts.

IR sensors and inclinometers allow the module to recognize its position and angle within the system, improving accuracy and safety. And, a combination of FIR and IIR filters are applied to ensure smooth frequency response across the listening area.

Trinity Black systems are exclusively owned by PK Sound and are available via dry-hire rental only to PK Alliance member companies.
