Pascal Announces New U-PRO Series Power Amplifier Modules

Pascal has announced the launch of its new U-PRO Series amplifier module. A design optimized for self-powered portable PA systems and compact, high SPL loudspeakers for fixed installation applications; offering both single and asymmetrically rated 2-way power channels.

The U-PRO series features dynamic power ratings due to its high voltage rails, relative to its RMS power output. With RMS ratings of 280 W, it can deliver short bursts of 500 watts RMS or 1000 watts peak power.

The U-PRO2 has a 280 W + 100 W two channel asymmetrical power rating for 2-way loudspeaker cabinet designs, while the U-PRO1 provides a single channel of 280 W – into 4 ohms. The modules measure 38 x 70 x 177 mm / 1.5 x 2.5 x 7.0-inches.

The U-PRO’s performance characteristics match the power requirements for cost effective, high SPL self-powered portable PA. This rapidly developing product class employs cost optimized drivers that can handle high SPL peaks but have limited long-term power handling capabilities.

In both BGM and ancillary fixed install applications, the U-PRO is optimally specified to meet the growing demand for self-powered, compact and visually unobtrusive, high output loudspeaker designs. The high dynamic power ratings of the U-PRO, relative to its compact form factor are coupled with its low residual noise.

Pascal’s UREC PFC (Power Factor Correction) power supply technology enables universal AC mains operation, delivering consistent, regulated power worldwide and eliminating susceptibility to local power related reliability issues.

Supporting modern connectivity requirements, an auxiliary power feed is available for integrated DSP, network or analog I/O boards. Readouts of protect/mute, temperature and clip signals are accessible for DSP and network or wireless control implementations, and I/O stages. The U-PRO Series features low standby power consumption for EuP2013 and green energy star compliance, with an auto standby/wake-up feature with selectable time settings, making the module ready to handle future regulatory requirements.

Speaking on the launch of U-PRO Series, senior VP of business development, Peter Frentz says, “Pascal is at the forefront of understanding of and insight into the future requirements of the professional audio market, in terms of the specific application demands for self-powered amplification. Our dedicated designs deliver a performance premium not available from general-purpose, commodity products.

“Our advanced engineering of the specific performance requirements for distinct applications allows us to design a product like the U-PRO series, able to deliver optimum performance specifications for two distinct applications that demand those same specifications for different ends. It is this vision and engineering premium that sets Pascal apart, and makes us the ‘go to’ supplier of amplifiers for self-powered loudspeakers, enabling manufacturers to achieve ever increasing performance, efficiencies, faster time to market and cost competitiveness.”
